B(e) fashionable: The key to dressing like Blair Waldorf

All Hail Queen B! Undoubtedly, the most fashionable character of the series, Blair Waldorf, played flawlessly by Leighton Meester, has a very healthy relationship with fashion. She owns her style, and is unapologetic and bold in the choices she makes. This is visible in her clothes. Her clothes are feminine, colorful and to a certain extent have a regal quality about them. She believes, she is Royalty and that shows in her behavior and clothes. Her style is inimitable and although people try to ape her, there can be only one Blair Waldorf.
Outfits that a regular average Joe (Joanna?) cannot imaging pulling off in their wildest dreams are carried off with aplomb by her. This is what makes her unique.
Although, her character is flawed and needy, this is rarely ever reflected in her style. For Blair, fashion is the way she expresses authority and strength of character, so she may falter in matters of the heart, but her clothes would never reflect that. Despite the fact that her character in the later seasons mellows down and seems to lose her ambition and drive displayed in Season 1 & 2, she still continues to be the fiercely supportive girlfriend and the immensely loyal best friend, hoping for her loved ones to excel in life. Her style is timeless and iconic. Incredibly fashion forward, gorgeous, fearless and uncompromising, that is what B's style encompasses.
Dressing up like B
I. Colour - Blair loves to play with colour. However, her quirky choices won’t work for everyone, she is brazen, and bold while being classy. Blair’s fashion choices are unpredictable and can be diametrically opposite. In one episode she can be seeing wearing all the colours of the rainbow and yet in another episode she can go old school Hollywood and wear only basic colours like Black, Navy, White and Red.
> Mixing Colours - Be fearless, be confident, and unusual when you combine colours. Never go the traditional route. Blair would mix pine green with lemon yellow and own it like a BAWSE.
> Feminine prints - Blair expresses her femininity by using prints. Her prints are more often than not, flamboyant. Blair wears a LOT of prints including a
lot of florals and isn’t afraid to mix prints.
> When in doubt, go classic - Blair effortlessly rocks a classic look while using colour. Even while wearing a classic muted dress, she would add a pop of colour via her shoes or accessories.
II. Accessorise - Blair rarely steps out without an accessory, be it hats, bags, tiaras, leggings, scarves or her signature headband, her accessories are always on point. The key to her look is that her accessories should either match each other and provide a contrast to her clothes or they must match her dress (in case her dress has more than one colour.)
III. Shine bright like a diamond - When dealing with plain colours, Blair loves to add some shine to her outfit. She uses bling to make sure she stands out even in basic colors. Whether it be sequins or glitter on her outfit or just an entire outfit made out of gold, B sure knows how to stand out.
IV. Old school Hollywood - Audrey Hepburn is a major influence on B and her style. Often comparing situations in her life to old Hollywood movies she also derives a significant portion of her style from that era. Blair Waldorf is the epitome of femininity and that is reflected in her style throughout the show and what can be more feminine than going retro? From girly headbands and colorful leggings in Season 1 to a more sophisticated and muted ladylike style in Season 6. She is the perfect embodiment of how a girl should dress if she desires to achieve a feminine look.
> Larger than life - In order to stand out you have to be larger than life, just take a cue from B. Her love for drama often translates into her style.

> Lace lace baby - A lady loves lace and Blair being the epitome of femininity and old school Hollywood in contemporary times, loves lace too.
